Small Gate is a calm, colorful, & richly biodiverse dive site on the
outer reef of Kavaratti. Known for its easy conditions and healthy
coral formations, it’s a favorite among new divers, underwater
photographers, and anyone who wants a relaxed yet rewarding
reef dive. Located near a narrow break in the reef structure
(hence the name), Small Gate offers a gentle slope dotted with
coral heads, gorgonians, & soft coral gardens making it one of
the best sites for close marine life encounters & vibrant reef
scenery. Moray eels, cleaner shrimp, nudibranchs, scorpionfish, &
octopuses tucked into crevices. Butterflyfish, angelfish, wrasses,
parrotfish, groupers, & schooling fusiliers. Green & hawksbill
turtles are frequently spotted grazing among the coral patches.
Occasional sightings of stingrays resting on sandy patches near
the reef base. Small Gate is the ideal site for divers looking for a
relaxed, intimate encounter with the reef where every inch of
coral holds a surprise.
